Emergency Management Director Matthew Grafton reports that a sustained wind event is still affecting Stoneham.
According to MEMA, winds are not forecast to be as extreme as yesterday in Massachusetts, however gusts reaching 40-50 MPH are possible. There is a continued risk for down trees/limbs, and continued power outages. Winds may also limit the ability for utility companies to restore power. The risk of strong winds should be over by this evening.
Residents are reminded that if they see a downed wire or tree, they should avoid the area and immediately dial 911. NEVER attempt to move or go around a live wire.
