STONEHAM — Chief Matthew Grafton and the Stoneham Fire Department are pleased to announce the promotion of firefighter Mike Rourke to Lieutenant.
Lt. Rourke was sworn in on Friday, April 14, by Town Clerk Maria Sargarino at Stoneham Town Hall.
Lt. Rourke joined the Stoneham Fire Department in 2016 after graduating from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy with a bachelor’s degree in emergency management. He has also worked as the Assistant Emergency Management Director for the Town of Stoneham for the past five years and is currently assigned to the Fire Prevention Office.
Lt. Rourke has achieved certifications from the Massachusetts Fire Training Council, which include Fire Officer 1 and Fire Instructor 1. Lt. Rourke is also a member of the department Dive Team, is EMT certified and has completed Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Incident Command System 300 and 400 class level training.
“I would like to congratulate Mike on his promotion as the 32nd Lieutenant of the Stoneham Fire Department,” said Chief Grafton. “Lt. Rourke is a dedicated and hard-working individual and I am confident in his abilities to serve as a positive role model and one of the future leaders of the Stoneham Fire Department.”
