Stoneham on-duty firefighters spent the morning of March 11th training on Spot Pond for various ice rescue emergencies. Firefighters practiced a variety of techniques utilizing rescue suits and the ice rescue sled. Crews from other groups will also be practicing ice rescue techniques on March 12th as well as the week of March 18th, so there is no need for alarm if you see emergency crews on Spot Pond. The Stoneham Fire Department would also like to remind the public that Spot Pond is not safe to be out on. Please do not go out onto the ice for any reason.
